Waller Creek Conservancy is pleased to announce that Creek Show will return to Waller Creek on November 7-17, 2019. Creek Show, now in its sixth year, is a free, open-to-the-public display of light-based art installations along Waller Creek in downtown Austin. The community is invited to walk along Waller Creek between 9th and 12th Streets to view the art designed to bring attention to the future revitalization of Waller Creek and its transformation into a series of urban parks. This family-friendly event continues to grow in popularity attracting over 50,000 visitors from all over Austin last year.
Creek Show showcases local Austin architects, landscape architects, artists, and designers chosen through an open Call for Ideas. Each year, artists explore different themes related to Waller Creek that range from hydrology to history and beyond. While the main attraction remains the impressive artistic creations, attendees will also enjoy live music, food vendors, and interactive activities.
The annual event highlights Waller Creek’s impact on Austin’s social, cultural, and ecological future. All are invited to visit the creek, enjoy the installations, and connect with the ongoing transformation of the area. Waterloo Park will open to the public in 2020 so be sure to visit the Creek Show lounge to learn more about the exciting park features and programs coming to the area next year.
Creek Show enthusiasts should save the date for the official preview party on Wednesday, November 6. This ticketed event provides a sneak peek of the installations while raising funds to keep Creek Show free to everyone for 11 nights.
